         This entire tragedy is mind-boggling and senseless. I cannot comprehend acts of terrorism. This occurring anywhere let alone a vibrant city like Paris is horrifying. People enjoying themselves don't expect to be attacked. Who anticipates this kind of vulnerability?

         The death and injury tolls are staggering, but the damage will be far-reaching and long term. Already, the citizens of France are experiencing the backlash of fear. No one will feel safe in a public venue. The government is increasing security measures. Curfews may be instated. Travel will be restricted. Everyone and their activities are subject to suspicion and scrutiny. Terrorism is not just physical acts of violence. An entire nation has been weakened.

          This terrible tragedy fuels the anti-Muslim and anti-immigration antagonists. "New" citizens or wannabes are suspect. "They" the unknown, the nefarious, the insidious, are slowly infiltrating world-power countries and carefully taking over. All Muslims and their sympathizers are hell bent upon world domination.

         Some argue that this recent carnage in Paris occurs continuously in any given part of this world. Why should a so-called civilized country be exempt? Is this officially a war? Are the combatants clearly defined? Exactly what are the issues?

         Should nations ignore strife, violence, and declared wars in other countries? Just do not get involved in foreign politics; turn a blind eye? Would this end retaliatory 'actions'?

         I don't believe there is a solution for zealotry. As long as some 'religions' promote and accept violence, fanatics will flourish. Tolerance and acceptance are not their mantras.
