How do you do?
PROMPT: War Chest Wednesday! You're at a party for your work. You don't know many people since you've only been there a month. Are you the aggressor in trying to meet people, or do you draw them to you? Explain. In reality, I do not have much party experience to draw inspiration from. The very few workplace soirees I've attended always were at different firms, venues, and towns. Yeah, I once moved a fair bit. At times, my hubby and I were self-employed as well. I certainly don't or didn't make a point of attempting to attract or draw people to me. My singing although quite the spectacle would not appeal to anyone; much more likely a repellent. Alas, my lack of dancing skill also would not encourage an audience or dance partners either. I am not nor have I ever been a walllflower though. I do find people fascinating; I like to observe and listen. Usually, I would approach a group of conversationalists and get a feel for the topic at hand. If I felt I had something of merit to add, I would throw in my two cents' worth without interrupting anyone else. I'd also introduce myself and maybe ask a few leading getting-to-know -you type of questions. Encouraging others to talk about themselves reveals interesting stories. Sometimes, we're pleasantly surprised by forgotten memories. There's nothing better than sharing a laugh.
