the snow incident.
I had to quit dating him after the snow incident.

It wasn’t his fault, of course. Having a drunk snowboarder careen into me as we were peacefully having a conversation, well outside the usual snowboarding lanes, was an accident. I even could accept the fact that he was laughing as he helped me to my feet again. I must have looked awfully silly tumbling heels over head into a drift. And he was very generous with the liniment, afterwards.

No, the problem was that the snowboarder was female.

After I saw the way he looked at her . . . well, I’m never one to stand in the way of true love.

Besides, I had to stop my insurance from writing me off as a hopeless daredevil.
