Gerald Durrell
Not too long ago I was looking through My Library and I noticed a small book which I purchased and read in 1964. It only cost 60 cents. Imagine that. Well, anyway, it brought back some beautiful bittersweet memories. It was, 'The Drunken Forest' by Gerald Durrell. This was when my goal in life was to live in nature. Back before humankind had consumed most of the beauty in life. Back when I spent most of my time surrounded by plants and other non-human wildlife. It made me want to go back to my childhood. I purchased, and just finished reading, 'My Family And Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell. I highly recommend it. As I said it is bittersweet. It shows a delightfuly Idyllic Life that is lost forever, I'm just grateful that I was able to experience a small piece of that life when I was younger and I pity the children of today.
