Advice?

PROMPT: For some writers, how explicit should they be is a concern because of anxiety, embarrassment, even shame. Even with all of our freedoms, we are still creatures of our families, our history, and our culture. How do we stop this from zapping our creative energy? What advice do you have for your fellow writers based on your own experiences?

         OOOhh, another topic nudging me to sit and cogitate....I don't have any religious or cultural restraints or restrictions; there are no conflicts for me to consider. Yes, I have a relative or two, but I have yet to broach a taboo topic. Extremely personal familial history is not shared. I care too much to expose a loved one to unwanted scrutiny.

         Most of the time, I embrace the embarrassing; it's fodder for humour. It demonstrates that we are all human and not infallible. Who hasn't experienced a bonehead moment? Part of dealing and accepting is laughter.

         Perhaps writers try too hard to be liked. They seek acceptance and understanding. They need to develop thicker skins. They need to realize that they cannot impress or please everyone.

         Yeah, I'm struggling with this prompt. Alas, I don't possess any wisdom to share.
