Mag Baily
By Lisa Noe
In the county where I live it is known as dry county by law,
The territory and its people are abstemious of alcohol.
It is the law of our land that booze is a sin.
But, however there are those, who must find a way to drink some gin.
They go to a bootlegger, the one in our county, which everyone adores,
Is a lady, who is ninety-four wears a pinafore.
Her Name is Mag Baily and she is a tiny little woman,
but she’s as cantankerous as they come.
People fear her, because she has a gun, she deals only with those who she knows.
She’s been arrested many times but her money always talked so she would walk
No one tangles with Mag least they be put into a bag.
Mag makes many men quake in their boots,
That is something that has always given me a hoot.
This tiny little woman who lives all alone
Fears nothing nor no one
Every time I pass her place, it puts a smile upon my face.
