Mottled Sunset

spread over handicapped lines
patches of soft pink
a glittering necklace
on the vacant sky

its painful fate
last farewell to the sun
then to turn inward
and dwindle in loss

but, before the stars show up,
my desecrating click
tucks inside the camera
a specter of its memory
