I was put to the machine to set to the bobbins on to the back of the machines and this was the second task I had learned. In the afternoon she was going to teach me to put the four bobbins through the rollers and bringing them in one bobbin at the front of the machine. I had already mastered the dolphin( taking off the bobbins when they were full.) I took a break and went to the cloakroom and I was washing my hands when Isa, the lady on the next machine, came towards me and informed me that I had to go straight home as my grandmother had taken a bad turn and was very ill. I went white and she sat me down then requested a car to take me home, but my Beloved grandmother died a few hours later.
