Silent Screamers
We are most vulnerable to demons
in our sleep.
The subconscious dream scape
reveals who we are.
Many cultures believe that dreams are
spirits whispering to us.
They wish to possess the sleeper.
Who can say what is the twilight
between consciousness
and the subconscious mind?

Most of Mrs. Gates life was ordinary,
she worked on a 911 hot-line and spent
the rest of her time as a mother and
wife. Her favorite stories were about
her kids and their new world of discovery.
After a long day and she welcomed sleep.

The radio clock displayed 9:45pm.
The kids were excited about a pelican
they had fed.
Mrs. Gates smiled, "If you don't go to bed
you'll be sleepy tomorrow."
As she read them the story of Noah
the children drifted off to sleep.

Mrs. Gates yawned and slumped in the comfy
chair next to their bed.
The image of the pelican eating the hot cheese
Cheetos was on her mind.
She awoke in a lovely scented garden.
"Those Cheetos burnt my beak." the pelican
said to her.
Mrs. Gates had the most erotic impulse
and made love to the pelican in the garden.
"You do know I am a pelican?" the pelican shook
his head and flew off.

Mrs. Gates awoke with a start.
Her heart was racing. She put down the
children's bedtime NOAH's Arch
and walked on her toes
out of their room and down the hall.
Her husband was already under the covers.
Mrs. Gates gently kissed the
back of his head.
The pelican spun about and clicked his beak.
She screamed.

She awoke on a park bench with a bag of
peanuts and dozens of pigeons around her.
Had she been sleepwalking?
Mrs. Gate looked down at her thread
slippers.

"Where am I?" she mumbled.
"Here. Get some sleep." her husband
muttered in their bed.
Mrs. Gate slid under the covers.
She gazed about the darken room
with trepidation.
Was this the end of the pelican nightmare?

Reflection~ Zeus made love to Lea in the
form of a pelican.
