Is Psychiatry a Science?

I have always resisted conformity.
It seemed cowardly and dull.
Today, the standard of mental health
is measured by social and popular
culture.

In 1973, The American Psychiatric
Association (APA) declassified
homosexuality as a mental disorder (DSM).
The members of APA voted~

5,854 in favor of declassification and

3,816 apposed to declassification.

A vote on a mental condition is not scientific
in my opinion.
The APA compromised removing homosexuality from
the DSM, but reclassifying it as a
"Sexual orientation disturbance."
Not until 1987 was homosexuality completely
removed from the DSM of The American Psychiatric
Association...

The (WHO)World Health Organization removed
homosexuality from its DSM in 1992 and listed
homosexuality as, "Ego-dystonic sexual orientation."
An ICD-10 mental illness still carried a socially
dysfunctional label.
In this condition, the person is not in doubt about
his or her sexual preference, but wishes it were
different because of,

"associated psychological and behavioral disorders."

Like getting pulverized by the heterosexuals?
It appears that psychology adapts to whatever popular
trend is in the media~

"Evolving social constructs change as society changes."
The American Psychiatric Association surmised in 1987.
Psychology Today writes that psychology is
"Gay affirmative." in an editorial by Dr. Neel Burton;
The Meaning of Madness.
