The Saga of Prosperous Snow Continues |
Monday, July 25, 2016 Light's Shadow Light leaves its shadow recorded on the walls of matter. Recorded where it can be unearthed by those who have been changed by deprivation. Light leaves its shadow to be discovered by the transformed. To be located by those who have lost the desire for gratification. To be detected by those who have exhausted matter's obsessions. The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for DAY 1349: "Nothing living can look for the light forever, not find it, and not be changed." Bruce McAllister Use this quote as inspiration to write a story, poem, or your take on the quote. Looking for the Light Darkness within. Darkness without. Darkness everywhere. No light detected. No stars seen. There is darkness to the north. There is darkness to the south. There is darkness to the west. There is darkness to the east. Is this what a Danaus plexippus Lepidoptera1 pupa sees inside its Chrysalis? Darkness surrounding it. Darkness embracing it. Darkness generating its metamorphosis. Metamorphosis that means the death of the pupa and the birth of the monarch. Inside the chrysalis the monarch in waiting looks for the light. Longs for the light that it knows must be somewhere inside or somewhere outside of itself. Looking for the light the pupa because the monarch of the crystal blue sky waiting only for its chrysalis to crack so that the light will come in. Waiting for the chrysalis to shatter and its wings to dry so that it can fly into the light of a new day and life. My soul is a larva inside the chrysalis of matter. My spirit looks for the light that it knows must exist. Looks for the light that it cannot find or see, but that it knows is there somewhere. Looking for the darkness that it cannot find faith transforms matter bound soul into a winged denizen learning to fly. Footnotes |
