The prompt for "Blogging Circle of Friends " for Day 1375 It's Saturday. Create something a poem, a flash fiction, or a rant. Write whatever you want about any subject. The Voice of the Wind Listen to the voice of the wind, Calling, calling, calling to mankind. Speaking to each new generation, In a language that generation understands. It called to my grandmothers in their youth, Moaning, moaning, moaning down their chimneys. Speaking to them through rattling grain, And the creak of a swaying Sycamore. It spoke to my Mother in her day, Banging, banging, banging on the door. Speaking to her through rusty hinges, And the crack of linen on the line. How will it speak to my daughter? Singing, singing, singing in her tongue, Does the Solar Wind make noise against a space ship; Or the winds of Mars whistle through its red dunes? Will my granddaughters hear songs of mourning? Wailing, wailing, wailing through bombed out ruins. Speaking to them through crackling firestorms, And the stench of the unburied dead? The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise" prompt for Day 895 How do you feel about having a contest in Blog City? Any suggestions? We're always looking for ways to improve your writing experiences here so here's your chance to talk to the leaders. A Blog City contest sounds like fun. I have a couple of suggestions. First, a review contest or challenge which requires the participants to review the blogs of newbies who have joined writing.com within the last 90 days. If the participants want to invite the newbies to join Blog City then they can. The reviews have to be linked to Blog City. Second, a writing contests that ask the participants to describe, through all of the senses, a scene in or around the city where the live. Those are the only things I can think of at the moment. |
