A Journal to impart knowledge and facts |
Newspaper columnist Mike Royko , born on this day back in 1932, once said, "Hollywood is right. A good and strong movie can have a more powerful social impact than any and all political speeches or newspaper editorials and columns." Tell us about a movie that has had a more profound impact on you in terms of politics, social justice, morality, or just plain old "doing the right thing". Movies do make an impact. People will sit and watch lots of stories they might not ever pick up a book to read. A 2014 film called "Good Kill" was interesting. We think a lot about how drones are used on spy missions and help save the lives of American Soldiers. This film shows the way they are used in air strikes and the emotional toll it can take on drone pilots as they fulfill their missions. I've read books written by soldiers in Afghanistan. This was the first movie I watched dealing with the same subjects only using drones. This movie raised questions the general public does not know enough to ask. This century is going to focus on morality as we progress into knowledge through movies, internet and up to date news coverage. |
