The Magic of Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is a spell
casting its joy over body, mind, and soul
making a job easier,
encouraging intuition,
and dispelling the darkness of depression.

Enthusiasm is a hot cup of coffee
on a chilly autumn morning;
it is a flock of pigeons
ascending from an apartment courtyard
to the building's roof;
it is a Chihuahua dancing
across a tile floor
toward the apartment's
front door.

My best friend
is someone who pours me

on a chilly autumn day.

of the tiny spider
on the floor
beneath the chair
I am standing on and screaming.

My best friend
is someone who does not
laugh at my phobias;
someone who comforts me
in time when I am frightened
or depressed.
