Creative Saturday: Nine Days Left in October
Saturday, October 22, 2016
“There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir: We must rise and follow her, When from every hill of flame She calls, and calls each vagabond by name.”
William Bliss
Author's Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in this poem about the number nine are my own. I have come to these conclusions after a great deal of reading, meditation, and contemplation.
Nine Days Left in October
Nine days left in October
the scariest month of the year
there are ghost and goblins aplenty
looking forward to Halloween's cheer.
Nine is an auspicious number
advantageous to success;
it is a sacred number
suggesting wholeness and compilation.
There are nine days left in October;
days of joy
and of sadness
which are cloaked in superstitions
arising from what we were taught
about death
and the after life.
There are nine days left in October.
October the first full month of autumn
when frosty nights turn green leaves
orange, yellow, red, and brown.
October when some people frown
because the days are getting short
and the year is dying.
