Lament of the Homeless Elf  (ASR)
A 2016 Secular Christmas Carol
#2104203 by Prosperous Snow celebrating

At the Beginning of December

December at last! The month of joy, laughter, silver bells, and Christmas cheers. The month of depression, tears, overspending, and bah humbug. My birthday month and in the year I need to get a new driver's license. The month the car decided it needed to have both the front and back breaks fixed. The month I'm going over budget without purchasing Christmas presents. If I was going to purchase anything frivolous it would be a birthday present for myself. Not that my birthday present would be expensive because I'd probably purchase a pound of whole bean coffee from either Starbucks or some other specialty coffee shop. If I were going to get something less practical then coffee I'd buy a new pair of shoes.

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for Day 997
Write an ode to your favorite fruit.

Chocolate Cherry Cordials

Chocolate covered cherries
Heavenly berries
Consume them one-at-a-time
Don't eat the the entire box at once
It will give you a chocolatey sugar high
Make you think that you can fly
Santa's sleigh across the sky.

Chocolate covered cherries
Heavenly berries
Leave a box for Santa Claus
To fuel his energy on Christmas Eve
If you do he's sure to leave
You a cordial surprise.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends prompt for DAY 1477
Consider the life of a plastic bottle and write about some aspect of it.

Utilitarian Beauty

Born in a modern factory
Its purpose to hold liquids
In service to humanity
It lives only a few months or years
Until its liquid is consumed
And it's tossed into the trash
Or recyclable bin
To be reborn as another piece
Of utilitarian beauty.
