A Christmas to remember
It was a wonderful Christmas I certainly believe,
Christmas gifts I love to give and receive
The weather was comparable to spring,
Snowmen were of plastic and angels did sing.
Mother bought me the things on which I dote
A white flower and white porcelain dog and a coat
My dearest husband bought me a beautiful watch
And unfortunately on my favorite shirt I got a blotch.
I went with Mom to find some sales in the stores all around
I bought a bowl and unfortunately I dropped it on the ground.
It shattered like glass on the pavement but it was made of plastic
It’s breathtaking in its beauty, to be glass made would be unrealistic.
Nothing short of death or illness could ruin this holiday
It’s been the best time I’ve had since back in May.
I am praying for those who’ve done without
There are surely many without a doubt.
They Smell no turkey in the oven baking
Their mouths water at garbage for the taking
Their stomachs growl from being without
They can only pray for their sanity no doubt.
