Addicted yes!

The Blog City Prompt Forum prompt for 1-20-17 is "Is there something you avoid because you're afraid once you start you won't be able to stop?"

This one is a no-brain exercise for me. I am a recovering addict so I know that if i put a mind altering chemical in me that is not prescribed by a doctor I have a serious problem. I could even develop a problem with some drugs prescribed by doctors because they could lead to my taking them without a prescription. My body doesn't know the difference between drugs legitimately prescribed by a doctor for real issues and drugs prescribed by myself to get high. So I have to be sure my doctors are aware of my history and have a good understanding of addiction.

If I make it until February 9, 2017 I will have been drug free for 8 years. Some of that has been by attending 12 step programs but due to the tradition of anonymity, which protects the program, I won't say which one(s). Just know that I make it my utmost effort to avoid anything that is addictive and interferes with my life.
