The "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" prompt for the 50/50 challenge Tell us a little bit about your WDC handle/username. Is there a story behind it? Are you personally named after someone, family or otherwise? Today's Entry Fee is 500 GPs. What is my handle? Contrary to popular opinion my handle is not a coffee cup. True I have been know to have the handle of a coffee cup in my right or left hand (this depends on which side of my desk the wooden television tray I use sit on) when composing a blog entry or poem. I suppose I should stop trying to be funny and answer the question "What is my handle?" and "What does it mean?" My handle is Prosperous Snow. My legal name is Neva Florence Darbe. This brings me to my handle and its significance. I think I made an entry about this in another blog, but it never hurts to repeat something, especially at my age. After all I'm 70 years young, so there is a remote possibility that I could forget this story. If I do forget it then I have several places to find the story and remind myself about the reason for my handle. I only hope that I'm telling the same story now as I did originally. I'm not saying the story in any of its forms is a lie, what it is is that I take after Grandpa Frank when it comes to telling stories like this and he always make them more exciting then I suspect they actually were. Neva means Snow Florence means Prosperous Darbe means either Where the Wild Things Live or Bum I always wanted a nickname. I knew children at school who had nicknames, but I never had one. When I joined writing.com I decided to make up my own nickname. I decided to use the meaning of my middle and first name because Snow Prosperous didn't sound as poetic and Prosperous Snow. That doesn't sound very exciting which means I'll have to think about it. This question will probably be ask again sometime in the future so I have some time to come up with something more exciting. Maybe something like Prosperous Snow Bum Where The Wild Things Live. |
