Unless You Make a Shout- by Edwina Carol We all work hard to be seen and heard Can you see us? Can you hear us? Upon the dawn there sounds the bird Can you hear them? Can you see them? We rush, and show and scream and shout We reach out We reach out We reach out The backs are turned and frowns abound The stare of eyes without a sound They walk right by not tipping hat, nor bid good morning Oh why do that? No greeting smile or wave of hand When will we stop and take a stand? We all have the breath of Grace Go spread the news and Shout in place That we are here to be acknowledged Loved, and heard just like the birds Just like the trees, and grass, and flowers With touch from sun and love from showers So let’s rejoice and greet each other For all is well as we are brothers. Let’s speak of happiness, life, and love And show this truth reigns from above Be grateful for another day To say hello, and shout, and pray We all awake for love and affection We all want for touch and attention But there is lack among the shouts and screams Put downs and snuffed out plenty of dreams Then bones are starved or needled veined Because no love, no touch can’t bear the pain How dare you store your love and Grace In the darkest hiding place A place to shield us from the love That veers down on us from above We scream and shout I’m here I matter Among the distant constant chatter No one will see No one will hear Unless you Make a Shout and cry it out |
