What does it mean to “have a heart of gold?” Do think that you have a heart of gold? Why or why not?

A Heart of Gold

According to The Free Dictionary the term Heart of Gold is a "Cliché to be generous, sincere, and friendly" and means "to be extremely kind and helpful".1 What does this term mean to me? I think the definitions in this dictionary says it all because my definition agrees with that. Do I have a heart of gold? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. I'm a human being attempting to survive in a world gone mad. I have a dual nature which means my spiritual nature, my soul, encourages me to practice the attributes that suggest a "heart of gold". My material nature, my ego, attempts to prevent me from practicing those attributes. Sometimes my soul wins and sometimes my ego wins.

A heart of gold cannot be sold
for hard currency
and like the pearl of great price
it is a treasure beyond the measure
of material wealth.
