Purple Rain

Tears cascade down your face like rain and I know your heart is breaking. So many things get twisted and turned as a fight turns ugly and we use words to lash out and hurt each other. Don’t you see it hurts me too? That my heart is shattering like glass as our vicious exchange races through my mind, trying to make sense of all that’s gone wrong. Oh, what I wouldn’t give for one of your smiles. Just one little lift of the corner of your mouth to let me know that everything will be all right. That all that we’ve found together isn’t lost.

For that’s what would hurt the most—losing you would hurt the most. You need to know that I never meant to cause you any sorrow. I never meant to cause you any pain.
