My daily devotional insights... and reflections. |
Today is Good Friday, and as we remember with reverence the crucifixion and ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us, let us also remember that blood is sacred. (See Leviticus 17.) "According to the law, nearly everything must be purified by blood..." "...and without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin." (See Hebrews 9:22.) "Remission" here is "cancellation of a debt, charge, or penalty." (Google) Jesus, by the shedding of His blood on the cross, paid the sin debt of all mankind once and for all. When we believe in Jesus and come to Him for salvation, His blood completely purifies us and stamps our sin "paid in full." His blood is MOST sacred. In Leviticus 17 we see clearly that ALL blood (in every living being) is sacred to God for "the life is in the blood." If ALL blood is sacred to God; it must be sacred (set apart, holy) to us as well. "…Anyone who rejected the Law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, 'Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,' and again, 'The Lord will judge His people.'” Hebrews 10:28-30 "…Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." ~Colossians 3:16&17 Let us pray. Father, we reverence the blood today, are thankful for the sacred blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all of our sin. Thank you that our sin debt is cancelled. Always keep us and lead us ever closer to You in thought, word and deed as we go about our daily lives. We love and trust in You. Amen. "Jesus paid it all; all to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain; You washed it white as snow." |
