Motivational Monday: Memorial Day responses to prompts
Monday, May 29, 25017

"Memorial Day isn't just about honoring veterans, its honoring those who lost their lives. Veterans had the fortune of coming home. For us, that's a reminder of when we come home we still have a responsibility to serve. It's a continuation of service that honors our country and those who fell defending it."
Pete Hegseth

The "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's Paradise prompt for DAY 1172
“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” Joseph Campbell
What is the difference between everyday heroes and heroes who gain fame? What are your thoughts on being a hero?

The only difference between everyday heroes and those who gain fame is location. Heroes become famous because they are in the right location at a specific time in history. A soldier in battle doesn't think of becoming famous when he saves the life of another soldier or the lives of a group group of soldiers. She or he just does what comes naturally when in battle conditions. It's the same thing with heroes who never see a battlefield situation because they are just doing what their conscience urges them to do.

The Motivational Monday prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS
Comedian Bob Hope  , born on this day in 1903, once said "If I have to lay an egg for my country, I'll do it." He was a proud supporter of the US military and would often do comedy shows for troops stationed overseas. When have you "laid an egg" or lent your talents a greater good, be it writing or life in general?

I don't know that I've laid very many eggs in my attempts to proclaim the unity of humanity. I state my my beliefs when ask, or I put those beliefs in Blog entries or poem. If someone doesn't like or disagrees with what I say or write then that's there problem rather then mine. My duty is to give my beliefs or opinion when ask and then move on. If the person wants to talk about why I believe the way I do then I'll talk, but I won't argue because arguing doesn't do any good or change any opinions.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends for DAY 1656
I read an article earlier today that said many people have forgotten the meaning of Memorial Day. Do you think this is true? What does Memorial Day mean to you? Do you have a family member or a friend, who served or died in a war? If so, does this impact the meaning of Memorial Day for you?

Memorial Day is to remember those who died in battle or wounds received in battle. I suspect many people in America today just think of it as a three day weekend that's the unofficial start of summer. I have relatives who served in the military and experienced battlefield situations, but I don't think I have any relatives who died in battle. My belief about Memorial Day comes from my experiences as a child, when I helped my Grandparents put flowers on grave, and from talking to relatives who were in battle.
