Blog City Prompt: "Only later did I realize that what I had thought were hours learning to build sandcastles were actually hours spent learning to build the foundations of a good life. A life of integrity and fairness, generosity and principles. A life of love." What are your reflections on this?

I had a good childhood even though my father was in Viet Nam 3 times and we weren't close. I had my mother and I lived with my grandparents in the summer time and all through the years. I never built sandcastles but I learned a lot about life and love. I had true love when I met my husband. We learned to build a foundation for a good life. We are still learning. We have had our share of health issues and problems but we come out stronger for it. I learned about principles later in life and I hate that word. It sounds controlling. Life hasn't always been fair but I go forward and learn from my mistakes and not to repeat them. I have tried to be generous to people. I am glad to have love in my life, rather it is for humans, animals or God. We need love. I still build sandcastles in my mind and have hopes, dreams and my integrity and keep building a good life. Some dreams work out and some don't. I cherish the ones that do. Life goes on and I hope to get stronger and hope for the good things in life. I will still build sandcastles in my mind and maybe one won't get washed away. I will keep learning and hope for good things to come.
