Ten poems ~ working with Andy
Wishing Well

19 lines
`65 words

Coins that fall
and yet we never
hear the plop.
We yell out
but our voices
never stop.
Echoes strain
around the binding
bricks and stones.
Trickles of water
seem far away-
a deeper unknown.
I wish I wish
to see the light
of the water glisten.
Something - anything
the smallest of vision
What holds the magic
of the wishing well.

Tower of The Sun

12 lines`61 words

Above the ocean along the rock
sits a kingdom 'n it's flock
Lords and Ladies ruling Dorne
Until the little Prince was born
Nestled along in the Broken Arm
nothing would bring him harm
until the ten thousand ships
raged through with clawing grips
taking away the Sunspear tower
giving it new higher power
House Nymeros Martell
together causing living hell

A Whim

94 words/24 lines

A twinkle in her eye
tears of joy begin
to stream
grazing her cheeks.
She is along in years
with memories
of love gone by;
left to her own device.
Her strength is wise
in these last days
of her life.
She is thankful
for all she’s had
even in her strife.
A stroke of a warm
hand is welcomed
with a smile ‘n a wink
like a loving wife.
“Is that you?”
“Yes it’s me.”
I have to be him
so she can see
his power of love
if only as a whim.

Cobble Stone and Iron Gates
75 words/12 lines

Fancy dresses graze the stone
Horse and buggy hold their tone
Men in suits that tilt their hats
To ladies and this and that

Linen tables etched with lace
It’s a party for her Grace
Whimsical chatter fills the air
As she shows her new born heir

Iron gates enhance lavender vine
with sweet purple smells so divine
little birds sing among the throng
their own little blessings with song

A Great Plan
39 words/14 lines

So the story goes
that through life
we all grow
some a little faster
some forever after
lessons learned
hearts get burned
yet we survive
with sorrows
new tomorrows
strength
from within
helping us stand
for a greater plan

Perfect Find
57 words/15 lines

Oh~ Aqua butterflies
ruby red flowers
and peacock tails!
Faded branches
pink that blanches
with orange wings
of a humming bird!
All in chintz ~
what are the chances!
That this is a chair!
Fabric of spring
and a perfect fit
for this pair
of a reader and writer
nestled in for the winter!!

My Tired Muse
63 words/10 lines

Scattered paper with writs of this and that
nothing is clear but yet I am here
writing and eating-feeling fat!
I ran out of coffee and then there is tea
but my muse isn’t working for me.
Maybe she is sleeping
or she could be weeping
as I put her to the test
I promise tomorrow, maybe
we will do nothing but rest!!

Treasures
67 words/12 lines

Summer buckets filled with sand
a shovel in a little hand.
Making castles and water motes,
patting patties for tea cup parties.
Daisies landing on big straw hats
ribbon on dresses with little cats.
Watermelon ‘cause it’s so hot!
With ice cream that we bought.
Lazy days of summer breezes
The moments that we seize
making memories on the coast-
these are treasures I love the most.

The Summer Change
94 words/21 lines

The driest heat of August
when color starts to wither
into a faint hue of dim
pallets. Shades of pink and blue.
Skies grow darker
and time is shorter
a stillness comes where
chimes once blew.
Another season about to fly
and meet the next within the sky.
The song that sang
throughout the day
is now in a quiet stay.
Nestled in umber
away from the thunder
collecting a winter’s nest.
I will miss the longer days
but welcome a season new.
Nights filled with fires
wrapped in sweaters
inhaling the midnight dew.

Fairy Magic
77 words/12 lines

Never keep a fairy in a jar
Spread her magic near and far
Blow her dust towards a star
‘n make a wish from where you are

Watch for twinkles in the night
and believe with all your might
there is magic in this little sprite
that shines like diamonds-oh so bright

Even in the softest breeze
in the meadows and in the trees
are playful laughing magic wings
if you listen you can hear them sing.
