My Fur Baby verses Writing

In the life of GoT with a pet that is incorrigible! I love her death, don't me wrong but honestly she has been driving me crackers! I had dogs as a child and I don't ever remember them being as needy as my Sophie. She has everything she needs such as food, water, toys, dad's chair, dad, walks, visits to nana and papa's house. I didn't realize that you could spoil a dog just as a child and I really didn't notice how bad it was until GoT of last year. If I get up from the computer she is at my ankles trying to pull my socks off my feet. I get it, she wants to play. Bad timing, so I humor her and throw a toy down the hall in hopes of sufficing her idea of play-time.

As I sit and write she sits beside me pushing her bottom into the mouse. I move her and she comes back! She knows exactly what she is doing! Timing is everything with a dog. She has a routine so it's a big NO you are not writing right now, this is my time!! I can mentally deplict her next plan of action. You got it, she has to go to the bathroom. So I get up again and go to the door and she sits and stares at me like I am losing it. She didn't really have to go to the bathroom she just wanted my attention and won the battle-again.

Yesterday she tipped over her water dish! Normally this isn't a thing but I was typing away and she just couldn't stand the fact that I wasn't bowing to her needs. Of course I got up to clean the mess and re fill her dish. She will go into the bathroom and shut the door, locking herself in there and then start crying. She knows I will get up and go and open the door and let her out. I can see the grin on her muppet mouth as her eyes look at me side ways.

A dog is not just a dog people. They are what we turn them into and I am afraid I turned mine into a little drama queen. She is a character of her own. Today she dragged all of my husband's socks from a pile of laundry into the living room. Each one she took she would wait for me to react, so I didn't. She did however end up dragging five pairs of socks and strewn them everywhere.

She is up to something right now as I write this. I can hear her in my bedroom. She is nine years old and still a puppy at heart. The house is very quiet right now and she can't stand the sound of the typing. Her little mind is saying, “There she goes again. It's as if I don't exist.”

Later on after dinner she will want to go outside. I usually do this and play ball with her and have my tea. That way I give her what she wants and I can settle back into my chair. Hubby will be in his chair and she will sit on the floor and stare at the two of us. “Somebody do something! I am bored.”

Can dogs get bored? I mean I guess they can if you do nothing with them but that isn't the case in my house. This dog is a child! She won't even play catch outside unless “her” poop is picked up first. Oh my!! She will not walk outside in a puddle of rain, if there is no way around it she just won't move.

Alright alright, I will agree that some of this is my own fault. I do carry her to bed at night! I know I know! I did this to myself! Today I was doing a review and she climbed right up on my lap top that was on my lap and ended deleting the whole review. Yup totally lost that one. I guess tonight I will have an extra to do.

I didn't realize when I got my dog that I could love her this much. I treated her like a child. It is pretty bad however that one can't sit for a couple of hours and write without constantly getting up. You know, like a two year old. They are into something, making a mess, crying out, reaching out, so needy. We are way past the puppy stage folks so she is who she is. Writing is not her favourite part of the day. As I speak she is on the floor at my feet sighing, “Here we go again.” Fur babies are just that. I can't wait for daddy to be home so she can sit with him at least for a half hour. After that it will be back to me. I made her a little spot on the couch beside me and I am hoping that tonight she will stay on that side of things and not on my lap! It really is hard to type around a lap dog. The mouse to my computer is not a play toy! She is too cute for her own good that is for sure. It is safe to say that Sophie rules the roost in my house even when it comes to my writing! It's too bad she can't just help me out a little. Give me a few prompts maybe? If you can't beat them join them type of deal. Who am I kidding she is a little four legged prompt all on her own! So many stories about the life of Sophie, She is a bit like “What a Mess” if some of you remember that show. There is one way I can get her off of me though. If I tell her there is a but in the house, she will go looking for it. Bad on me right?! I think she has ADD. Can dogs have that? No,she is just spoiled!!
