My Shadow (B&W Final Cut #7)

A reason exists why
my shadow is speechless
for when I skipped to the end
of the lane, I tripped
over it.

Now it's lying flat on
the asphalt, pitiful in
baggy shorts out-of-fashion,
crooked, grim
under dim lights.

No, it can’t be my real self
wavering, awestruck, but then,
why does its outline dim,
like a portentous raven,
palpitating?
