When You Walk Into A Room
Prompt: Joy asked if people stare at us when we walk into a room and how we felt.
I have walked into a room and have people stare at me like when I was in church and other places. At church, this one woman stared at everyone and her brother-in-law pointed at her, spun his finger around and roughly pointed straight ahead. I laughed. She never stared again.
I was late for school once because the bus was late and my one friend said shame on me because I was wearing lipstick and nylons. I was in sixth grade. People stare. Why? Who knows? I used to say in high school: "Like what you see?" Now, I just hold my head up and smile and find a seat. If they stare, I pretend to be someone famous and pretend to let them think the Princess has arrived!
