Saint Denis was born in Italy in the year 230ad.
He went to Paris in 250ad with six companions.
There he became the first Bishop of France.
St. Denis was arrested with two of his companions.
He and his companions were executed for preaching Christianity.
Under Roman law St. Denis was beheaded at Mountmatre, 258ad.
The legend says that St. Denis walked with his head under his arm.
There is an abbey with his name at the site of this miracle.
He is the patron saint of Paris.
