Altar

I have an altar
in non-ordinary reality.
All my mundane household gods
nestle here in their nichos.
I bring them offerings
of birdsfoot violets, dried immortelle,
six-foot sunflowers.
Kwan Yin, Hecate,
the Black Madonnas of the world.
We speak only in Urdu.
No map.
No path.
No timeline.
No prayers.
Only gratitude.
