The face of the deep
looks and sounds like
Mary Oliver, new to Florida,
singing, still smoking,
learning to love the mangroves,
losing her self
in the Glades
green ribbons of sawgrass.
And the Spirit of God
moved upon
the face of the waters,
drew a circle,
became community.
