You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. -James 4:4 When our heart is divided---as in a marriage when a spouse seeks comfort from someone outside the marriage---God sees us as adulterers. He must have first place in our lives----in every area including, but not limited to, what we watch on television, and what we do at work and at play. When we push Him aside, our hearts grow increasingly cold and harden... until we barely even think about Him and/or what pleases Him. He calls it adultery. After drawing my final breath, I want Him to say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant"----not, "Depart from me, I never knew you." Who are you living for today? Do you know God? ...Does He know you... or are you merely a fading acquaintance? Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you... -James 4:8 It's appointed to man once to die, and after that he/she will face judgment. (See Hebrews 9:27.) …For, “In just a very little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay. But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, I will take no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.… -Hebrews 10:37-39 |
