1 Requiem for War: Peace Lords Rising out of the ranks of the disenfranchised poets conquer through the power of their words, through the light of their tongues, and through the fire of their speech the minds of children destined to be weapons in tomorrows armies, thereby, depleting the battalions of warlords. 2 Echoes of Distant Drums I hear the echoes of distant drums reflected from towers of steel and glass descending through layers of brown air. I hear the echoes of distant drums accompanied by the sound of small arms fire procuring a dying planet's wealth. 3 The World Today The world today is weary of war, Tired of the death and destruction,dd Sick of the strife, the wasting of life, And is seeking a new direction. Alas, it seeks in the wrong direction, For the thing its heart most craves, Alone and unaidied it cannot fine, The peace it must have. 4 Hunger and War Hunger is both the cause and the results of war: End hunger! End war! 5 Distant Drums Speak Distant drums speak: Telling us war can be no more! Proclaiming this is the decade of awakening, that the planet can no longer bear our hate. Announcing that humanity stand on the brink, that we must either live as one race or perish by our own hands. Distant drums speak: Urging us to obey God's command, inviting us into a new reality, and telling us we are one family. We--The Children of Adam-- are a single species. Distant drums speak: Informing us that the wind of God is blowing, that it is pushing the forces of destruction and pulling the forces of construction. 6 Humanity's Choice In the present state of world affairs, humanity's choice is simple, we must have world peace, or we will have a world in pieces. 7 Azrael at Armageddon Black is the color of angel wings Descending on the final battle field, The rustle of their inky feathers Whispering: God has helped. Embracing with equal reverence, Both Believer and infidel, Ebony pinions sever the soul's tie to matter And take the body's breath. 8 Survival As cities crumbled into dust, and civilization fell, humanity survived it all through love and unity. 9 War And Peace We live beneath the shadow of the Bomb, Afraid it will be used again, Running from our fears by playing War Games. Adding to our fear is faulty logic! Nuclear deterrents wont' bring world peace! Destruction of the planet is their results! Peace is the only option left. Every day brings it closer to us. Another war means complete annihilation: Civilization and humanity destroyed. Each day our need becomes more urgent. 10 Baghdad 2003 A.D. Not even Holy Cities are safe from the ravages of war and the scavengers of hate. 11 Tongues of Flame The fire's crackling laughter Echoes through stone fire pits It's tongue tasting paper and wood chips Bright tongues of flames lick at living logs Consuming in the flash of napalm The essence of life Tongues of fire tinge suffering logs gray Transforming in the flicker of a match The planet to a heap of ash Poet's Note: ▼ |
