A Mother’s Love

With a soft pastel sigh
day yields to night
disturbed only
by the soft flutter
of moth wings.

The heat of the day
rises in florid columns,
painting the dark canvas
with images, unseen.

While we rest,
nature nurtures
never questioning
the harm that we do.

A mother’s love.
