New Day:
Meditation on the Revelation
of The Bab and Baha'u'llah

Why is the sky pink?
         Mirrors reflect dawn's splendor.

What sets the dawn ablaze?
         The glory of a new day,
         Kindles the sun's bright beauty.

How does the sun shine?
         With incandescent grandeur,
         Rays of living light,
         Generate mercy's warm beams.

Why does the sun shine?
         To waken the nightingales,
         Whose melodious words greet,
         Perfection's dawn.
Where does the nightingales sing?
         Mountains echo his name.

When will the sun rise>
         The might of dawn overcomes,
         The will of darkness.

Who sees the sun rise?
         Knowledge reveals light's power.
Why does the night end?
         Speech questions the night's darkness,
         Where the sun bestows new life.
