I Am World Citizen
Entry four of ten for "The Bard's Hall ContestOpen in new Window..

"Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow-creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind."
Baha’u’llah1

This entry was inspired by the "Blog City ~ Every Blogger's ParadiseOpen in new Window. prompt for DAY 1638: Do you think travel is stressful, and what would you do if you found yourself alone in a foreign country where you don’t know the language and you don’t even know if there’s an embassy of your country? And the the "Blogging Circle of Friends Open in new Window. prompt for DAY 2035: Let these words inspire your entry. pipe, organise, massive, nuts, feed, skinny, car, worship, watch.

I Am A World Citizen

I am a Baha'i!
I am a world citizen!
There is no place on the planet
that I cannot find a place of worship.

Neither language nor embassies are barriers to the lovers of the Blessed Beauty2. The first thing I would do, before going anywhere, is to organise my contact list, and make sure I have contact information for Baha'i Centers, Temples, or groups in any country near my destination. That would include countries I would fly over or land in. I would have, at least, two copies of my contact list: (1) an electronic copy, and (2) a printed copy.

I am a world citizen!
I can eat nuts in South America,
or help feed the hungry in the Horn of Africa.

It is true, that in a few countries I would have to watch words. In Iran Baha'is can find themselves in prison or worse. There are still Baha'is in Iran, and other countries where their religion is a death sentence. A little disconcerting; however, I could not let disconcerting prevent me from attempting to find my brothers and sisters in faith. No matter how massive the barriers to contact, contact is always possible when one places their entire trust in God through the Ancient Beauty3.

I am a Baha'i!
I do not care if
you are skinny or fat
if you have a different color of skin,
if have a different religion or no religion
we are one family--you are my brother and my sisters.

Everywhere on the planet I hear the pipe of brotherhood, sisterhood, and peace playing. It does not matter where I am. I can ride in a car or whatever the local transportation is used. There are Baha'is across the world, therefore, I am at home.
