"June 18, 2018" "Prompt: 'Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind." Rudyard Kipling What are your thoughts on this subject?" I would have to agree. It makes me think back on the words of Jesus when He said in Luke 6: 31 that we should "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". If the words I am about to say to another are words that I would not want them to say to me then I should just keep my mouth shut because the words are not fit to be spoken to begin with. The first amendment to the US constitution gives me the right to say anything I want to say. However I have found that just because I have a right to do something does not necessarily mean I should do so. The New Testament writer James compared the tongue to a raging fire. In James 3: 6 he says that the tongue is a raging fire capable of all kinds of wickedness. One can easily start a forest fire emotionally with the wrong word so one must be careful to control the tongue. "Prompt: “If you are in love with somebody, that love is a gift to you.” Sri-Sri What are your thoughts on the subject, and is that love still a gift when your beloved mistreats you?" I think love is always a gift. I lived alone for two years after my wife died and it was the most miserable two years of my life. I suffered with bouts of depression and was in and out of the hospital. I spent more time on the psychiatric unit due to depression and loneliess than I did at home. So I would have to agree that love is a gift. For me personally it is much better to be in a bad relationship than it is be in no relationship at all. I remedy the situation by having a relationship with Jesus Christ. There arte times I disagree with Him but when I do I know that He is right and I am wrong so I step out on faith and trust His judgment. I find that his judment turns out to be correct. His love never fails. |
