Humility - Galatians 6
One day, God told me that I had no humility. I immediately thought that I was saturated in pride. I began to ask God what He meant by this revelation. I was amazed at what I learned.

While being humble is about not being prideful, humility is about the right measure of self-esteem and self-worth...or, more importantly, who a person is (and isn't) in Christ.

Galatians 6:4-5 (MSG) sums it up nicely: Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

Basically, for a believer to have humility means that that person knows who they are in God, what He has called them to do, what they are capable of doing, and what they are not capable of doing. For example, my talents and gifts lie in teaching, preaching, writing, and leading. What do I really want to do? Be on the worship team. I have wanted to sing songs for as long as I can remember. However, it is not my place to sing songs.

Jesus has others that will be in the worship team and I am not to have jealousy over their talents, abilities, and gifts. How is this possible when they are able to do something that I have wanted to do desperately for years? Through humility.

I know what I am called to do and be in Christ. I know what He wants me to use my gifts and abilities for during this season. I know what I am not called to do in Christ. I know what I am not supposed to do or desire to do in Him.

That day, when God called me to understand what humility is and why I lacked it, it was for my own benefit to realize that there are certain things I should not seek out or force to have happen, and the same is true for you. Seek the Lord and discover what He has called you to, how He has gifted you, and use those to better the body of Christ, to serve in your designed role, and allow the jealousies to fade away. Allow yourself to be free to have humility and to be elevated in the ways God wants you elevated and humble in the places where you are not gifted or called. By doing this, you'll find your place in the body, experience true joy in the successes of others, and find that you truly are lifted to new heights in your walk with the Lord.
