Searing, white poker heat assailed me. It burned clean through leaving me feeling ready to throw myself into a violent rage. But now was not the time. My hands curled into fists as I glared at Darren's smug grin. My body thrummed with coiled tension. I almost shook with it, but deep breaths brought it under control. I would not let him see how much he had wounded me. He thought he had bested me. Little did he know I would have my revenge. He would pay and I would feel the satisfaction of seeing him blacklisted. He could swell now with his cocky rapport surrounded by his fancy friends, but soon his downfall would come. And it would be his end. He would be a social pariah. Nobody would touch him. I left the party soon after. My battle plan ratcheting into place. The documents I had received earlier this evening, the ones I had dumped into the trash thinking they were too much... that it was not my place to reveal. They would be my revenge. I would leak them to the press. Those vile pronouncements would send Darren into hiding. He had thought to tarnish my reputation, well now he would feel my wrath. Darren Reynolds would never hold public office once the evidence of his sexual liaisons were revealed.
