Fun Fact Friday: Australia and a Poem
Istiqlál (Independence), 13 Raḥmat (Mercy) 175 B.E. - Friday, July 6, 2018

The Fun Fact Friday prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUSOpen in new Window.
"More than 90% of the Australian population live in urban areas on the coastal fringes – the Outback is therefore mostly uninhabited..."

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above
Don't fence me in
Let me ride through the wide open country that I love
Don't fence me in1

It looks like the Gene Autry song "Don't Fence Me In" fits the Outback of Australia better than it fits the western part of the United States. I live in the western U.S., and I'm sure there are more people here than in the outback of Australia. There are two songs from Austria that I'm especially fond of. "Waltzing Matidla" is the first, and the other is "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda".

In keeping with the Australian theme I'm sharing an interest fact about Dingoes. According to "30 Furry Facts About Dingoes"2 there are three main types of dingoes. Those are (1) the golden reddish dingo, (2) the Alpine dingo, and (3) the northern dingo.

The "Blogging Circle of Friends Open in new Window. prompt for DAY 2056
Use these words somehow in your writing- enchanted, twilight, fireflies, rose, carousel, lion, and tinman.

A lion roars at sunset,
and the echoes reverberate through the twilight,
warning of the approaching night.

Night
is the time of fireflies
and memories.

Memories that drop
like the petals of a dying rose
onto the floor of sorrow.

Sorrow is a carousel playing
a sad country song,
that a tinman sings out of tune.
