The "Blogging Circle of Friends " prompt for Day 2094
How do you deal with being without power for 24 hours?
After the Electricity Came Back On
I was asleep
when the electricity
came back on.
It was about 11:30 P.M.
on Sunday night,
when the lights
and air conditioner came on
and woke me up.
Thinking back,
I realize how lucky we were.
We have a small barbecue grill
we cooked breakfast,
lunch,
and dinner on.
For breakfast we had
steak and scrambled eggs;
the eggs were cooked in a frying pan
that set on top of the hot coals.
We still had water,
so we could take cold showers
to prevent us
from experiencing heat exhaustion.
We were out of touch
with everyone,
except the people in the neighborhood,
because our smartphone batteries went dead
(without electricity
you can't recharge the battery).
Being without electricity
isn't too bad,
when you have friendly neighbors,
and book--
both scripture and novels--
to read.
