Prompt: What does the Statue of Liberty mean to you, regardless of its history? If you are from another nation, what does your favorite national monument of your country mean to you?

The statue of liberty is a symbol of the freedom that many take for granted here in the USA. I live at the West Virginia Veterans Home in Barboursville WV. I also go to the Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center for care. I know for a fact that freedom is not free. A lot of people paid a great price for freedom, some the ultimate price. Freedom is very expensive.

The Statue of Liberty also reminds me that I have to be responsible with my freedom. Just because something is permitted does not mean I should do it. I'm permitted to jump off a ten story building but I am not going to do so. Just because I'm free does not mean I should be irresponsible but people often are.

"Prompt: October 16 is Dictionary Day . It commemorates the birth of Noah Webster (October 16, 1758), the Father of the American Dictionary. Do you prefer to use an online dictionary or a book dictionary? Why?"

I usually don't use a dictionary at all because as a child I copied large portions of the dictionary routinely as punishment in school. It was the best punishment they could have given me because it immensely helped my vocabulary, my spelling, and my intelligence quotient. I don't need dictionaries very often today unless I am unsure how many syllables are in a word. At times I check syllables. When I do I use an online dictionary because I am usually already online. I spend about half my free time on WDC.
