Reality and Illusion: A Metaphor

Reality and illusion entwine;
Light and darkness meet;
In this material realm
We dwell between two extremes.

A child is born,
From the darkness of the womb,
It moves toward the light,
But the light it approaches is dim,
As if seen through a mist.

Through material eyes it sees
Illusion and reality each in the other's guise.
