My daily devotional insights... and reflections. |
I don't know about you, but knowing something in my head and knowing it in my heart (so I can properly put it into practice) are two very different things. I'm thankful to be learning. Hebrews 8:7-13 clarifies why we have an old covenant and new covenant (old testament and new testament). While reading this morning I began thinking about a recent dream where the Lord was telling me to turn the other cheek---though in my mind I didn't see how that would produce a good result. A link to the dream is here: "Lose-Lose vs. Win-Win" My thoughts are connected to a few recurring events, from which I attempt to navigate while keeping spirit and mind intact. After meditating in the book of Hebrews today, I re-reviewed Matthew 5:38-48 where the Lord tells us we have heard it said, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth” (old covenant), but He says, Do not resist an evil person, but turn the other cheek, love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you, bless them, etc. (new covenant). This perfectly clarifies HOW we (as Christians) must turn the other cheek---in love through prayer and intercession---toward souls who are "seemingly" against us, evidenced by repetitive attacks [likely motivated by our REAL enemy (Satan, the accuser, devourer, liar, murderer and/or his cohorts)]. God is teaching; and I feel His presence and power in my prayers, proving I'm on the right track. Be encouraged and blessed. |
