What Would I Pledge For a Rose?

What would I pledge for a rose?
A rose in God's garden of love,
Sprouts in the rich black soil,
Reaching toward the sun,
It produces a new bloom each day.

What would I pledge for a rose?
A rose red as martyrs blood,
Spilled on the soil of Iran,
Plucked as its peddles were opening,
And its scent wafting into the breeze.

What would I pledge for a rose?
A rose white as fresh fallen snow,
That covers lofty peaks;
It blooms as the spring sun rises,
When dawn breaks in the east.

What would I pledge for a rose?
A rose created by God!
What do I have to give?
What do I have to invest?
How can I serve Baha'u'llah.

I wrote this in 139 B.E. It was inspired by the Baha'is in Iran who are being persecuted for their faith.
