Maybe Not by Wednesday After All

It doesn’t look like I’m going to be getting my WDC Short Story done for this month by the time I go back to work on Wednesday. If I’m lucky I might get it done by Friday. I still might get it done by Wednesday, though. At least I hope that I do, but after what happened yesterday as of this writing, aka Sunday, I’m not very hopeful that I will get it done by then.

So, why don’t I think I will get it done too soon. What happened on Sunday? There are several reasons for that. Saturday, I got one-fifth of this Short Story done. Sunday, it got only slightly better with one fourth. Why did I only do about one hundred words Sunday? It wasn’t because of work. It was kind of slow for a Sunday at work. Sundays usually aren’t too busy anyway, but today it seemed a little less busy than usual.

No, work isn’t the reason. So, what is? There are two reasons why. One is the lack of sleep. I didn’t get too much sleep Saturday night, Sunday morning. In fact, I only got about four hours of sleep. Don’t ask me why I got so little sleep because I don’t know. I just couldn’t do it. As a Security Guard, no sleep can be a big problem, but it wasn’t for me. At least not work related it wasn’t.

The other reason is that I had to re-write what I have already written on this WDC Short Story. It wasn’t a major re-write, but it was one that needed to be done. I thought about working on with what I had in mind and going back to the first part later or after I was done with it, but I couldn’t get it out of my mind. So, I did it, Sunday. It didn’t take me too long to do it, but it did take me a couple of hours, and several re-writes, to do it.

Because of the re-writes, I kind of did do a little more than a hundred words. It still wasn’t as much as I was hoping for, but it’s still a lot more than I thought that I did when I first started writing this Blog entry. Between the re-writes and fighting to stay awake, I still only got about three, maybe four, hundred words that I have done today.
