In the darkness of December,
I remember
the joy of spring celebrations:
Naw-Ruz and Ridvan.
Naw-Ruz,
celebrated on the vernal equinox,
praying in the New Year,
food and fellowship,
and giving thanks to the All-Glorious Lord
for blessings of the previous year.
Ridvan,
celebrating the Declaration of Baha'u'llah,
prayers and scripture readings,
fellowship and food,
and--on the First Day of Ridvan--
communities coming together
to elect their Local spiritual Assembly.
