Falling into Pieces of Flowers

Pieces of flowers
long gone now
September of bouquets
Commemorating events

An illness, a wedding, a birth, a funeral
all lumped in to one month
September of 2011
Falling head-first into a well-placed trunk

Emergency room visit culminating in
October's dire forecast
when snow fell and it was too cold
the child was angry

Snow on Halloween just wasn't done,
not in his world
We laughed through our tears
and took until March to recover

Under the blossoms
of the Bradford Pear tree
that later fell on our car
She would have been 50 this May

But she's long gone
as is that pear tree
God's Way came to call
the year October was too cold

and I wish I can't remember at all
