First Person Point of View

Lately, I seem to be writing a lot more first person stories. I didn't even realize it until today when I was reading my recently finished short story

I'm not sure why all the sudden I'm writing stories in first person. Is it easier for me to put myself into a character's shoes that way? Third person perspective is so much less limiting I think, so why am I suddenly doing so many stories in first person? Should I be concerned?

Author Ingrid Sundberg really likes the first person perspective as it gives more immediacy to the reader, as opposed to third person. My novella, How to Adopt a Dragon, is told from a first person perspective of a strong female protaganist. I love the story although the writing of it has been very hard for me. For some reason, all the weak areas of my writing have shown up in the story which frustrates me to no end. It's not that they're not in my short stories, it's just that their worse in a longer form. But I do so love writing stories with strong females in them. There's not enough of them in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I write the occassional story with a male point of view, like I did in

But that's more the exception than the norm. And that story was from a third person perspective, mainly because I had to showcase the adorable puppy, Rudolph.
